A custom aroma stone is the transformation of a logo, character, or event theme into an exclusive shape that can be displayed and used with fragrance. Before customizing, confirm the purpose, quantity, budget, delivery date, and artwork, then simultaneously plan the shape, gift box, and fragrance. Flat artwork cannot always be directly translated into 3D; fine lines, sharp corners, thickness, and stability of placement should all be verified during the prototyping stage.

What is a custom aroma stone? What are its uses?

Customization can begin by adding identity to an existing shape, or by redesigning the silhouette, embossing, and 3D structure; outer boxes, inlays, bottle labels, and user cards extend the overall brand visual. When planning, distinguishing between "what you want the recipient to recognize" and "how it will actually be used" makes it easier to create a clear finished product than starting by overcrowding it with text and details.

Aroma stones, when paired with suitable fragrance liquids, provide a scent that can be perceived when nearby; the effect is still influenced by the material, liquid, and environment. It is not an area-wide diffusion device suitable for all spaces; for basic usage, please read the Complete Guide to Aroma Stones first.

Specifications for different gifting purposes
Purpose Focus on shape and content Delivery conditions to confirm first
Corporate anniversary/milestone Corporate symbol, commemorative year, display-friendly base Deadline for finalization, event date, commemorative text
Brand events/PR gifts Product silhouette, character, or event key visual Distribution quantity, portability, packaging durability
Employee/Partner gifts Desktop display, fragrance selection, intuitive user card Multiple delivery points, packing list, batch requirements
Wedding/Personal memento Couple elements, date, pet or commemorative pattern Quantity, table gift vs. thank-you gift, venue acceptance

For wedding purposes, one must also consider whether the gift is per person or per household, as well as the flow of distribution; you can further read the Wedding Aroma Stone Gift Box Guide.

How to turn a logo into an aroma stone? Choose the 3D method first

The core of turning a logo into 3D is retaining recognizability while adjusting it into a structure that can be manufactured, handled, and placed stably. Providing vector files and brand colors helps confirm the outline; when only photos are available, front, side, and non-negotiable identification elements should also be supplemented.

How to choose between embossing, contour shapes, and 3D characters?

For logos with more text, main symbols can be embossed, while the full brand name is presented on the box or card; for logos with distinct outlines, consider thickening the shape to stand independently; mascots with side features require filling in the 3D proportions and back design. Do not treat "extruding an image" as completing the 3D model, as the center of gravity, indentations, and mold release direction still need to be checked.

How to balance aesthetics and ease of mold release for fine lines, sharp corners, thickness, and flat bases?

  • Thickening fine lines: Narrow text strokes and tiny protrusions should be enlarged, merged, or changed to shallower embossing to ensure they are visible beyond just the screen.
  • Rounding sharp corners: Tips of wings, ears, and deep narrow corners can be changed to rounded corners or shorter outlines to reduce fragile points during mold release, packaging, and handling.
  • Reducing cutouts: Protruding parts like limbs or tails can be connected to the main body, prioritizing solid, one-piece designs; special structures require separate prototyping.
  • Planning the bottom or back: For desktop display, prioritize a flat bottom and center of gravity; for flat embossing, consider a completely flat back to simplify the contact surface and mold opening.
  • Thickness depends on the weakest point: You cannot just look at the maximum overall thickness; connections at the neck, text transitions, and partial indentations must also be checked. There is no single "safe" millimeter thickness that applies to all materials and shapes.

Whether it can be successfully demolded still depends on the shape's undercut, mold design, and material; a "flat back" alone does not guarantee success. For more detailed artwork checks, please refer to the Corporate Logo 3D Design Checklist.

Brand stories don't always rely on the logo alone

The TSMC N2 collaboration case on the LOX website uses mountains, a wafer disc, and a base to form a three-layered visual, turning a corporate milestone into a display piece. A takeaway is to "select symbols that represent the event, then allocate the role of each part"; the materials, size, and structure of different projects still need to be re-evaluated.

How to plan size and materials? Work backward from the location of use

Determine where it will be placed first, then decide the finished product size and box size. Desktop pieces need to account for stability, sightlines, and space for handling; gifts for distribution require consideration of weight and portability; car-use versions need a reliable fixation design—never treat a desktop piece as a car accessory.

A size table should record the maximum length, width, height, base dimensions, auxiliary parts, and post-packaging dimensions of the finished product. Areas that look empty on a drawing may need space for fingers to pick up the item; increasing the size of the shape may also change the inlay depth, box height, and master carton configuration. When the budget is limited, retain the main outline and primary identification first, and simplify small text and multiple colors.

Material selection requires comparing surface texture, color, detail performance, and fragrance compatibility together. If using recycled materials and planning to include it in the gifting copy, evidence of the material's source and scope of application should be obtained first; using a specific material does not mean the finished product automatically gains carbon reduction values or overall environmental certification.

What are the gift box formats? Decide the box type and inlay together

A suitable gift box should secure the product, make it easy for people to take out, and clearly present how to use it. The LOX service page lists planning directions such as lid-and-base boxes, drawer boxes, flip-top boxes, and EVA or paper card inlays. The actual combination of box surface craftsmanship, structure, and inlays must be confirmed based on the finished product and quantity.

Common gift box comparisons for custom aroma stones
Box Type Suitable Unboxing Method Prototyping Check Points
Lid-and-Base Box See the entire set immediately after lifting the lid Lid tightness, extraction space, top-bottom alignment
Drawer Box Slide the product set out along a fixed direction Smoothness of sliding, product shifting, pull-tab position
Flip-top/Magnetic Box Show product and internal info after opening Opening space, lid pressure, magnetic and structural fit
Simple box with paper card More concise distribution and carry configuration Support method, coverage, collision prevention during transport

How to choose between black and white EVA die-cut inlays?

Black inlays easily highlight the silhouettes of light-colored shapes, while white inlays can maintain a clean, bright visual. Color isn't the only condition: die-cut holes should be made according to the confirmed final product shape, evaluating depth, tightness, finger notches, and extraction direction. Too tight may require force to pull out, too loose may result in shifting during transport; the fragrance bottle should also have an independent, stable position.

Contextual visualSize confirmation should be checked along with internal box space, inlays, and the extraction motion.

Inlays should not be ordered solely based on early 3D drawings; physical samples should be used for verification, and it should be confirmed whether the product requires additional protective packaging. For combinations of box types, cards, and bottle slots, please refer to the Corporate Custom Aroma Stone Gift Box Planning Guide.

How to match essential oils? Let the recipient choose for themselves

Start by discussing fragrance based on the gifting context, target audience, and intensity preferences, then confirm whether the liquid is suitable for that particular aroma stone. Woody, floral, and citrus scents are starting points, but this doesn't guarantee a fixed effect, nor does "natural" imply it is suitable for everyone.

The sources, formulas, and scent performance of essential oils and fragrance oils differ; always check the complete product usage and labeling. For extended explanation, see Essential Oils vs. Fragrance Oils for Aroma Stones. For gift boxes, consider packaging the stone and fragrance liquid separately, allowing the recipient to decide whether to use them or when to refill, while also avoiding oil stains or packaging contact issues caused by unverified pre-oiling.

Contextual visualSeparate slots for stone and bottle; actual hole dimensions, fixation, and extraction methods must still be confirmed via prototyping.

What should at least be stated on the usage card?

  • Use according to the matched liquid and product description; perform a small test in an inconspicuous area first to check for absorption and surface changes.
  • Place in a stable location, paired with an oil-resistant and leak-proof coaster to avoid direct liquid contact with furniture.
  • Use only for the stated diffusion purpose; do not consume or apply directly to the skin; keep away from children and pets.
  • Discontinue use and ventilate if you feel uncomfortable; refer to the specific product instructions for refilling, cleaning, and storage.

Do not simply write "can use any perfume" on the card. If you want to provide info on alternative liquids, you can link to Can You Spray Perfume on Aroma Stones? Oil Stains and Testing Methods.

Prototyping process: Define the shape first, then verify the entire gift set

  1. Organize requirements: Confirm purpose, quantity, budget, date, logo, brand colors, and delivery method, noting non-negotiable elements.
  2. Confirm design: Check front, side, bottom, or back, confirming size, text direction, and presentation method.
  3. Produce physical sample: Check contour recognition, details, surface, center of gravity, and load-bearing positions; schematics do not replace physical items.
  4. Assemble the set: Use the sample and bottle to check the inlay, card, opening/closing, and extraction methods, then evaluate protection and shipping configuration.
  5. Finalize and retain samples: Bind the confirmed sample, dimensions, color references, text, and packaging version into one record to establish the standard for mass production comparison.

When modifying, it is best to list "which position, what to change, whether it affects size or packaging," and appoint a single contact person to consolidate opinions; if artwork changes constantly, the overall delivery will be pushed back even if the production days remain the same.

Seven-step prototyping and mass production verification for custom aroma stones from artwork to logistics
Reading diagramA representation of the process verification, actual arrangements are adjusted based on case specifications and confirmation results; there is no fixed delivery time.

Mass production and inspection: Which items can't just be judged by photos?

According to the confirmed plan, mass production usually involves mold preparation, pouring, drying, trimming, necessary coloring or processing, followed by assembly, packaging, and shipping. Each process must be scheduled according to materials and manufacturing steps; just because it looks formed doesn't mean it is ready for immediate boxing.

Inspection should be compared against the confirmed sample, item-by-item checking of text direction, obvious chips or cracks, appearance agreements, standing stability, inlay fixation, bottle and labels, packaging quantity, and packing list. Reasonable variations in handmade items and cases for rejection should be clarified in advance with images or samples, avoiding the use of an abstract "be perfect" as the sole standard.

What affects MOQs and lead times? Ask in stages for accuracy

There is no single MOQ or fixed lead time that applies to all custom aroma stone shapes and gift boxes. New shape and mold development, coloring steps, special printing, packaging material procurement, quantity, and batching methods all affect assessment; MOQs should be confirmed simultaneously for the stone, outer box, or the entire set.

Procurement stages that should be confirmed separately
Stage Needs Confirmation Common Influencing Factors
Design & Modification When complete materials are provided, when finalized Artwork clarity, 3D structure, rounds of review
Prototyping & Confirmation What items are in the sample, when to reply New molds, color tests, packaging coordination
Mass Production & Packaging From what status is the timer started Production quantity, drying/trimming, packaging arrival
Logistics & Inspection Ship date, arrival date, and receiving contact Delivery address, number of batches, buffer before event

When comparing plans, prices must be verified based on identical finished products, fragrances, packaging, and delivery scopes; whether the quote includes design, molds, prototyping, modifications, taxes, and shipping should also be confirmed separately. Complete data can be organized according to the Custom Aroma Stone Gift Box Ordering Guide.

Custom Aroma Stone FAQ

Can we start planning if we only have a logo?

Yes. You can provide the logo, purpose, quantity, and desired delivery date, then we will determine if embossing, contour shaping, or 3D design is suitable. The more complete the vector file, brand colors, and non-modifiable elements, the easier it is to confirm the direction.

Can a logo always be made into 3D exactly as it is?

Not necessarily. Fine lines, small text, floating parts, and deep concave structures may need to be simplified or thickened. First, confirm which identification elements must be retained; other information can be transferred to the box, sleeve, or information card.

Does a flat back always make for easy mold release?

A flat back helps simplify part of the design, but front undercuts, long/thin protrusions, and mold openings will still affect release. Feasibility must be judged based on the material and physical prototyping.

What is the minimum order quantity? Can a small amount be done?

Assessment is required based on new shape development, existing shape adjustments, packaging, and fragrance combinations. Small-quantity plans may be affected by the minimum amounts of box materials or processing, so a single number cannot represent all customization requirements.

How long do prototyping and mass production take?

Design, modifications, prototyping confirmation, formal production, and shipping should be scheduled separately. After providing the target usage date, we will arrange according to the confirmed plan, allowing for inspection and necessary processing time.

Does the gift box have to include essential oil?

Not necessarily; you can choose individual aroma stones or combine them with fragrance liquid according to the usage scenario. If liquid is provided, compatibility, labeling, bottle fixation, and a usage card should be confirmed to avoid choosing scents solely for color matching.

Can we use a brand-specific gift box and black/white inlays?

You can include box type, brand visuals, and black/white inlays in your requirements assessment; actual materials and craftsmanship will be confirmed based on the final plan. Die-cut holes should be verified against the final physical dimensions, testing both fixation and extraction.

How can we make mass-produced products closer to the confirmed sample?

Retain complete samples and version records upon finalization; clearly state dimensions, colors, text, acceptable appearance ranges, and packaging combinations. Mass production is inspected against the same specification, and relevant items are updated simultaneously when changes occur.
